Klosters Platz is the larger of the two, with the main ski lifts, hotels, shops, restaurants, and the après-ski scene. Klosters Dorf is quieter and better suited to family ski holidays. Casa Clara sits between them — eight minutes' walk to Platz and the Gotschnabahn, ten to the Madrisa gondola at Klosters Dorf.

Klosters Dorf and the hillside above the village cost less than Klosters Platz. Casa Clara is a ten-minute walk from the Madrisa gondola at Dorf and eight minutes from Platz, so you get the lower-cost side without giving up access to either.

Self-catering cuts the real cost of a stay — a kitchen means you aren't eating three restaurant meals a day at Swiss resort prices. Properties slightly outside Klosters Platz cost less per night while staying within walking distance of the village.

Worth being straight about this: the centre of Klosters Platz is mostly hotels. Self-catering apartments sit slightly outside it, which is why walking distance matters more than the word "central". Eight to ten minutes on foot covers most of the village, including both lift bases.

Space here is counted in bedrooms, not stars. Whole-chalet rentals above 150 m² are available through specialist operators at the top of the market. For six people a three-bedroom apartment is usually enough and costs considerably less. Casa Clara's flagship is a three-bedroom sleeping six, with a studio and three further rooms in the same house for larger groups.

Look for properties above the valley floor rather than in the centre, where sightlines are blocked by other buildings. Casa Clara sits above the village looking down the Prättigau valley, with a balcony off the main apartment.

Check which lift base you can reach on foot, whether parking is included, whether the local tourist tax is in the quoted price, and the cancellation terms. The tourist tax comes with a guest card giving free access to the Klosters ice rink and transport discounts, so it isn't purely a cost.

Parking is scarce in Klosters Platz and most hotels charge for it. Check whether a rental includes a space before booking, especially in winter when street parking fills. Casa Clara includes free private parking on site.

Rates peak over Christmas and New Year, February half-term, and the WEF week in January. Summer is cheaper than peak winter. The cheapest windows are the shoulder seasons — roughly late April to June, and September to early December — when lifts run reduced or not at all.

Yes. Klosters Platz is on the rail line from Zurich via Landquart, and local buses connect Platz and Dorf. The guest card issued with the tourist tax includes transport discounts. A car helps for day trips but isn't needed to ski or hike.
